MedHQ announces the promotion of Rita Hernandez Figi to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer. Hernandez Figi, who joined the company a year and a half ago as Vice President of Human Resource Services, will continue to lead the MedHQ Human Resources practice while adding responsibilities designed to align all of the company’s practice groups for continued growth.
“We have experienced significant growth over the past three years,” explains MedHQ CEO Tom Jacobs. “As our COO, Rita will ensure that we maintain consistency across all our businesses, which include HR Outsourcing, Client Accounting Services, and Credentialing Administration. She is ideally suited to guide the way we execute on our mission to deliver the best back office services for healthcare providers.”
According to Jacobs, since joining MedHQ in December 2017, Hernandez Figi has made “a great and positive impact” leading the company’s HR Outsourcing business. “Rita has a long and successful track record as a leader in organizations that have grown rapidly, and served a geographically-oriented national customer base. Secondly, with her long tenure on the board of the American Heart Association, Rita has demonstrated a passion for health care that is a great fit with MedHQ’s mission,” Jacobs says.
Prior to joining MedHQ, Hernandez Figi spent nearly 35 years as a Human Resource Leader, gaining extensive experience in all aspects of human resource management in multi-site corporations, including strategy, talent management/ acquisition, employee relations, compensation, executive compensation, benefits and acquisitions. She looks forward to her new role as an opportunity to leverage her experience more broadly.
“The experience I bring from helping other organizations grow gives me a perspective on what needs to happen,” she says. “Our biz objective is to align all of our practices so that our service levels are equally high across all groups and we’re utilizing staff in the right way. We want to be sure our growth is planned and effective, and that we’re making the right moves to continue to grow. I flattered, I’m honored, and I’m all kinds of excited to be offered this new challenge!”
