This September, MedHQ hosted the first-ever Heart of the Business Conference in Chicago. The conference, which was timed to align with the American Heart Association Heart Walk, centered around the importance of health and wellness in every aspect of personal and professional life.
As we prepared for the conference, our team focused on the mantra, “We are the heart of the business.” MedHQ helps healthcare organizations grow and thrive by providing vital HR and accounting services, allowing them to serve their patients better. The “heart of the business” mantra was an ongoing theme and a driving force for MedHQ throughout 2019.
The conference featured expert speakers, including Brian Shields from the American Heart Association (AHA), who gave the opening address on health and wellness initiatives, and keynote speaker Dr. Judith Wright, Co-founder of the Wright Foundation, who spoke about the importance of emotional intelligence (EQ) in the workplace. Through initiatives related to the conference and other fundraising efforts, MedHQ also raised over $45,000 to support the American Heart Association.
Every month leading up to the Heart of the Business Conference, MedHQ released a workplace tip around how to create a healthy, engaged, and productive team within an organization. The tips covered topics ranging from #1: Build and Maintain a Diverse Workforce to #8: Recruit and Retain Your Employees. MedHQ developed these ideas further, incorporating content by subject matter experts and supporting data and practices related to company wellness, and published The Heart of the Business eBook. The eBook provides practical guidance on how to establish a wellness program and outlines how it will benefit an organization and drive operational growth.
2019 has been an inspiring and exciting year for MedHQ. We are proud of fulfilling our role as the “heart of the business,” and we look forward to seeing what 2020 has in store for our organization and our partners.
