Technology is constantly evolving, and MedHQ is committed to finding the most effective systems and processes to serve healthcare clients. In a series of blog posts, we are highlighting the different ways our team is prioritizing digital transformation to optimize operations and improve efficiency and data security for greater client success.
Rita Hernandez Figi, Chief Operating Officer, shares how MedHQ is implementing new technology to create a secure and intuitive environment for client data.
“Managing employees’ personal data is something we take very seriously, and we apply extra precautions to ensure this data is secure,” said Hernandez Figi. “While we are technology-driven and believe in making it easy for managers to locate and download information quickly, we’re also careful to respect each individual’s privacy. We ensure that the right people have the right access to the right things.”
Over the last year, MedHQ has migrated all data from a server room to a secure cloud-based system. Verified users can conveniently access the cloud remotely from any location, and the system offers increased protection against interference and service disruption. It also gives administrators secure access to the data they need to do their jobs more effectively.
“An important way we create value for our clients is giving people access to and ownership over pertinent data that helps them manage their business successfully,” said Hernandez Figi. “For example, if the administrator at a surgery center needs to look up old payroll reports, they can pull them from the cloud immediately. They no longer have to print and store reports within a storage system at their facility or save huge files on their own hard drive. They just log in with their admin ID, select the reports they need, and review them at their convenience.”
Individual facility employees also benefit from MedHQ’s cloud-based system by gaining more control over their sensitive personal information. Our system stores important employee documents, such as wage and tax statements and direct deposit forms, that individuals can reference and update from their secure account. The system requires strong passwords and multifactor authentication, adding an extra layer of security to prevent cyberattacks. A notification is also sent anytime someone accesses their records; this keeps them informed about their data and maintains a high level of security.
MedHQ’s digital transformation efforts save facility administrators and other employees time and frustration, while always maintaining strict security standards. This blend of simplicity and protection is especially important during times of rapid change.
“In the last few months, as the situation has been changing so dramatically and so quickly, it’s even more crucial to have good systems in place,” said Hernandez Figi. “Facilities aren’t just managing payroll and normal responsibilities. They’re also figuring out things like the Paycheck Protection Plan (PPP) loans under the CARES Act. We at MedHQ are tracking all of these changes in real time and determining how we can best support our clients with technology upgrades and education.”
