Heart of the Business Tip #2: Creating and Maintaining a Positive Workplace

You and your team work long hours together, day in and day out, and the workplace culture that surrounds you can make or break your experience. A positive culture boosts productivity and engagement and minimizes turnover and stress. It leads to benefits for employees, employers and the bottom line.

A psychologically healthy workplace, according to the American Psychological Association (APA),

nurtures employee health and well-being and enhances organizational performance and productivity by promoting practices in five categories:

  • Employee involvement
  • Work-life balance
  • Employee growth and development
  • Health and safety
  • Employee recognition

How can you foster a more positive workplace? Start with your values, and build your organizational culture around them. Be intentional about your actions, and make sure they align with these values.
